The advantages of publishing product reviews online

When you promote an affiliate product such as SpeedPPC, I hope you do more than just send one or two promotions to your email list.

I earn many thousands of dollars a year in affiliate commissions from product reviews and case studies. In some cases, product reviews keep producing very useful affiliate commissions YEARS after they were written.

For example, on one of my sites, I’ve published case studies which an assistant wrote back in 2002 and 2003. Years on, those powerful case studies are still earning me commissions of thousands of dollars EVERY month.

Can you achieve that level of success with a review of SpeedPPC? Perhaps not. It will depend a lot on your traffic and your audience. Even if you achieve only one or two sales a month from an online product review or case study, you’ll receive a very useful $248.50 or $497 a month.

The beauty of such commissions is that you do the work once, but the commissions keep arriving month after month.

Online product reviews have other benefits…

  • Reviews optimized for search engines can attract tightly targeted traffic to your website which is searching for exactly the information you’re offering. (Consider writing two or three articles on different aspects of SpeedPPC, each optimized for different keywords.) Even if these visitors don’t buy the product, they may buy something else or subscribe to your newsletter.
  • You can write a brief note in your newsletter linking to your online review. This gives you the opportunity to go into much more useful detail, with screenshots.
  • When you provide more specific details, you’re more likely to achieve sales.
  • A review with screenshots and perhaps a video you’ve created enables your readers to SEE the product and imagine themselves using it. When people can see themselves using a product, they’re much more likely to buy.
  • A online review gives you the space you need to tell YOUR story in YOUR voice.

Here’s why the highly successful affiliate case studies I mentioned earlier work so well…

They take you step-by-step through the process as the writer uses the product and describes the results he has achieved.

The writing isn’t brilliant. Some of the screenshots are a bit rough. (One shows a coffee-stained printout.) The actual money earned by using the product in these case studies is NOT huge. None of that matters. In fact, these things all probably help lend credibility to the case studies.

Where the writer had a few problems, we tell you about them, and we add a few suggestions about tactics he wants to try in the future.

The most important point to remember is that when there’s a real person describing real actions - not some fake made-up
crap - the writing rings true. When the writing rings true, you achieve sales.
